One of six antisubmarine towers planned to be placed across the English
Channel during World War I. The project was carried out under Alexander Gibb,
civil engineer to the Admiralty; design by George Moore; constructed by a
company of the Royal Engineers, Shoreham. The only tower finished at the end of
the war was modified and used to replace the Nab Lightship at the eastern
entrance to The Solent, placed in September 1920. |
